The End Result…

By completing the Log Book Training Course, you will be able to understand the effects of Fatigue on drivers, the Work Time Rule and be able to fill out a Log Book correctly.

Prerequisites/Requirements

This course is aimed at those who are drivers of commercial vehicles. A Log Book is required to be used by the majority of drivers who earn a living driving heavy vehicles or drive passenger service vehicles (i.e Taxi’s). There are no prerequisite requirements for this course.

Course Information

The Log Book Training Course runs for around 8 hours, and is an all theory course. This is usually included in  Class 2, Class 4 or Class 5 courses but can also be completed separately. There is also a refresher version of this course available, for those who have already completed a Log Book course before and wish to update their knowledge. The Log Book Training Course covers unit standard 24089 which will also be registered onto the NZQA framework.

What This Course Means…

The Log Book Training Course will help you to be able to manage your work hours and to understand the Work Time Rule, so you are able to fill out Log Books in accordance. The Work Time Rule applies to those who are drivers/operators of vehicles that:

-Are class 2, 3, 4 or 5.
-Are driven/operated in a transport service (other than a rental service).
-Are used in circumstances in which the vehicle must/ought to be operated under a transport service licence.
-Are used to carry goods for hire or reward.
